Founded in 1906, the Berlin based club play their home matches at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in Köpenick. The club is 100% owned by fans with over 45,000 members owning shares in the club which means that there are no outside investors who give financial backing to the team. The club is known by locals and fans as 'Die Eisernen' which translates to 'The Iron Ones'.
